mmmm I agree with that! I look foward to ice the day ice season ends! Its a disease and it cant be cured. the only help there is for us comes around december and goes away april 1st! Welcome to IS stoney!

Last evening I walked down to the picnic bench along the river in the back yard with my ice-jig box's, for about the hundredth time this summer, and started to once again rearrange the box's, while sipping a cold beer. While I was in the process of over sharpening some jiggin spoon hooks, Beth came and sat down beside me, not saying anything.
A short time later, a smallie of about 18" started tearing into the minnows along the rivers bank, about 10 feet away. I kept oversharpening the hooks, while taking another sip on the brewski.

Beth didn't say anything for awhile, then she looked over and said "perhaps you should talk to someone, our health insurance coveres stuff like this"
So to make her happy, I went and got the rod and caught some bass.............

December just seems so far away

You don't look crazy if you use the excuse, "I was just playing ice fishing with the kids".

I have my shanty set up in my basement, sometimes I even get the vex and the heater going in there. My wife doesn't suspect that I have some screws loose in my head, she just thinks I am letting my boys play.

It's when everyone is enjoying the warm weather, running around with tee shirts and short, going to the beach and your thinking about freezing weather and thick ice when you really need help. To me, summer is just down time that I have to put up with. I could care less if I ever see another biting bug, sun burn or hot humid day. I would think that what you need for therapy is a sheet of white two inch foam, 4x8, cut a 9 inch hole in the middle and put it offshore twenty feet or so, and put a tip-up in the hole. This could cure the itch until hardwater. Think of it as one of those last of the season warm days when your sitting on the ice in a lawnchair getting a tan.

You are right, she knows I'm cracked. I tell her I am not dangerous as long as I take meds (ice cubes). I expect to get picked up by those fine folks from the sanitarium any day now

Getting closer...here we are at September 1st....just another 110 days or so, less if it gets cold quickly this fall.....was on the fish307 website yesterday and they aren't showing much ice stuff yet........

Sept 1st is a turning point here. We should start to see the trees change color very soon. Some of the more sickly trees are already showing color. Ice is getting closer every day!

The water temps in some parts of Chaumont Bay are already at 52 degrees.....and dropping steadily......Esox
