Trip North
« on: Feb 25, 2019, 08:39 PM »
A group of 8 of us made our annual trip to Champlain this past weekend. Left at 3:30am Wednesday and returned home on Sunday.
Another great trip in the books with great company, great food, awesome weather and lots of laughs. Day 1 the fishing was a little slow but we all managed to avoid the skunk and put a few each on the ice. Days 2 and 3 we fished an area we had never tried getting on the ice at an access and traveling 3 miles up the lake. Ice every where was at least 24" and more. The Fishing days 2 and 3 was unbelievable. Day 2 we put 80 Pike on the ice between us all. Day 3 right back to the same spot and put another 60 Pike on the ice. No real monsters but a lot in that 6 to 7 lbs. 9lbs was the largest. No stop action all day. Day 4 went to a different area. Ran into Porter and the infamous Lavaman up there. Fishing again was slower that day but did put around 30 or so on the ice with several perch on top of that. The weather Saturday was a rare occassion for up there. Another trip in the books. Most likely will get in another shorter trip to Champlain mid March as we have the last few years.
Didn't take a whole lot of pictures this time but here are some of what I took.

My new ride worked out great. So glad I finally pulled the trigger.
Tight Lines all. The season is still going strong ;D ;D

Nice work Jeff!  I'll have to take you up on your suggestions next time I head up there.  The perch bite was strong but I'm not much for panfishing.  I'd rather the toothy critters which it sounds like you hammered on.

Doing the 24hr round trip Saturday if you want to meet up ill show you some spots where you literally cant get skunked.
