a red breasted sunfish???

had to work this morning,got home about 12:30..hmmm..i decided to go up the Club for a couple of hours. just brought a couple of trout tilts, jig stick and some waxies.

no bites on the jig but the tilts had 2 runs. managed to land this Red Breasted Sunfish?? ???

thing was a beast..about 8" long and 2 " thick. biggest one i have ever seen.




a fun 2 hours.. ;D

I live in the midwest now but have fond memories of fishing in New England as a kid.

I can a ton of sunfish like that during the summer. Most are smaller than yours but every once in a while you get a monster.

Although in summer I fine these guys to be kinda annoying, in winter they really are beautiful fish!

That's not typical in my region for them to be so bright in winter. Must be color enhancement due to a diet rich in carotene.
