if your fishing for landlocked salmon look around the areas you would look for rainbows around river mouths as stated and around sand and gravel bottoms. you dont have to be near the river mouths to catch the salmon we get them in the bays where major rivers run into. just keep your baits just under the ice along the shoreline in 3 to 8 ft of water where the above stated bottom structure is located. small shiners and smelt if legal work well for the salmon we catch here on accident in nh. we dont try to catch them but they seem to be alot dumber than the rainbows around here.
