is there any other reason other than for the fight to use lighter line? i cant figure it out

Fight is NO reason at all. The reason for using line rated BELOW 2# is to increase the catch rate. We really could not catch hardly any gills here untill we went to ounce rated or 1# line. Sometimes i use 1.2# or1.5# as my ''heavy'' line.
