Ther're called PREY where I'm from. Its pretty much a horizontal small minnow imitation. Glow colors like white w/ orange head, soft blue, other colors too. But it is for sure my go to bait under all conditions. I really like the horizontal profile and if you hook a wax worm on the end, you should see it swim. Subtle twich to make it look like a work near bottom or a hard snap to make it look more like a minnow up off the bottom. For sure my fav. lure.

teardrops always seem to work but i have been having good luck with anything with hair like ants or spiders they have a downfall though when the fish are aggressive it takes to long to get them down to the strike zone but i think that is also the enticement to get a hit is the slow decent
give a man a fish and feed him for a day teach a man to fish and his wife will hate you for the rest of her life

just curious what ya paid. around my area there about 1.69 a piece US . my only gripe with the northland jigs is, if you paying a priemium price per jig, the heads should be paint free. when the bie is tough, sometimes the movement of the fur on the ants is just enough  ;)  watched it on the vu one day

It works out to $1.14 a jig...I bought 4 along with

5x Arnold Moxy Jigs
2x Ice Buster Bobbers
3x Pilkie Ice Jigs (similar to a hali)
1x set up extra droper chains for the Pilkie
4x Spider Ant

that hole thing cost me about 20$

I agree with your comment about Northland. I also love thier buckshot spoons and eye droppers, but I keep getting paint and reflective material chips on them..

I have a favorite jig for gills, but I don't know what they are called or where I can get more, and I only have two.  It is a very small grub shape with sort of a segmented body.  I think the body is made from lead.  The body is reddish on top, and glow (sort of white) on the bottom.  The body is formed around a red, curved scud-like hook - probably about size 12 or 14.

Anybody know what these are, and where I can get more?  I think I bought these at Cabela's a few years ago, but I didn't see them there this year.  I can't remember who makes them or what they are called, but they sure do work well on the gills - especially the light biters.

Sounds like a genz worm...do a search for them.

My description sort of describes a Genz Worm, but that's not what it is.  This is on a red, curved scud-type hook rather than a straight jig-type hook.  Also, the body is much smaller in diameter than a Genz Worm, and the segmentation is about the same diameter along the whole, slightly curved body.

Maybe I can get a picture posted up here soon.  Thanks for the reply.

This is the ONE jig.

K&E Moon Glitter & Glow - Green size 12

On my main rod, I've had the same jig on since catching limits+ last season and have taken a few limits this season without re-tying.

Thread a waxworm on and keep the hook covered - readjust and/or replace waxie as needed

I actually bought a few other jigs (different color Moon G&G's, Marmooskas, and Sniders) recently, but as of yet, I have had no reason to change from the ONE jig. I've got a bunch of other jigs that have just sat in the box for the past few years as well.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

After last year, Im a big fan of the Gill Pill.  The fishing was slower last year up around me and the Gill Pill was my best producer.  The white/black in a #16 with 3 spike seemed to be the ticket last year.  Didnt have much luck with firetiger but Ive heard a lot of good things, so Im gonna work that one more this year.  Also gonna add some Maki Plastics into the mix.  Hope to make the Gill Pill more productive than it already is.

I agree with the two hooks on one line, not just because they are so fun but also if there are fish up higher in the column it makes it easier to catch them and possibly catch more inactive ones on the bottom, last time i was out a rat finkee on top and a fat boy on bottom was the ticket.

how do you go about tieing this rig up? does the bottom jig just get tied through the eye of the top one? id think that that would mess with the top jig too much, also how much of a seperation do you put between the two jigs, i might try this method out this winter.

The Ratso or Shrimpo or just the body on an ice jig is all I use 99% of the time. They are superior to me because they require no bait to catch fish.
