ATV's
« on: Nov 22, 2011, 07:54 PM »
Thinking of getting an ATV this year. Knees and back getting a little stiff. Was wondering how thick is the ice before you start riding them with all your gear.
Thanks,

Dont own one but have driven one on the ice many times. But i would say at least 8" of ice to be safe. And there a lot of fun, thought i prefer snowmachines.

I usually want 8" of ice for the wheeler myself, but it really depends on how good the ice is too. When I was younger I would drive my truck on 10", but wouldn't even think of doing that now.

That's a pretty "safe" bet.  It's what I say, not what I do that counts, right?  ;)
I say, follow the other guy, if possible, except for when his tracks disappear.   :o
