HI ALL

I went to see some chain saw,,,,,,,,,,and saw a realy nice outfit,,,,,,,,,,,,,


A NICE STIHL ICE AUGER,,,,,,,,,,,,,cool outfit ,but expensive unit,,,,,,,,,

anyone saw one in action,,,,or have one,,,,,,,,,or thinking off gething one,,,,,


........would like to see what kind off speed she have,,,,,,, ::) ;)

Are you sure it's an ice auger? Stihl only lists earth augers on both the Canada and US websites.

no wonder they are expensive, sound like they have a bit more power then needed for your average ice trip.

and there is a ice blade blade,,that you can get for it,,,,,,, ;)

When I checked on them last year, they were well over $600us.

Yes I too have seen them at a rental place Joco and they are sold here but I didn't get much beyond the price sticker . Yikes . :o Now I haven't seen one doing duty on the ice yet but would like to . ;D

Ahhhh...I see.

Looks heavy (19# not including the bit) and slow (only 190 RPM) to boot. Not much of an advantage to this one.

That's pretty common for earth augers (~40:1 gear ratios). They move a lot more weight and are going through unknown types of material, so part of the  reason is for safety and part is for power.

SO anyone ho is looking to win a speed contest,,,,,,,,,,,mabe the sthil auger is not the one to chuse,,,, ::)...

mabe they will be a diferent transmision,i hope,,,,,,,,,,

but they will be reliable,,,,,,i am sher about this,,,, ;)
