2 cycle oil
« on: Jan 08, 2008, 01:21 PM »
i have an ice auger in here for service.   says recoil  doesn't work.  its locked up. i have yet to check cylinder.  my question is???  what are some of the colors of 2 cycle oil.  i have really only seen  blue and brown.   his mix color was red,  leading me to believe he mixed straight gas and stabil.     thanks

I've used red amsoil or klotz already. Main colors I've seen used are green and blue. I've used some lucas 2-stroke oil that was just slightly yellowish in color already and it worked very well.

Johnson 2 cycle oil mix has a red dye in it while Evenrude uses blue

well i broke free the recoil asm.  removed the muffler.  no scoring on cylinder walls or piston skirt. compression test was ok.  but the top 1/4 of piston is carmel colored.  looks like he got lucky.  thanks

There is still a good population that uses automatic transmission fluid. :-\

Urban legend says that it keeps the engine super clean. ::)  Some of the Amsoil racing stuff is red. ??? I used it before I found out about the saber smokeless.
