2 spears - 1 shack
« on: Feb 10, 2011, 03:48 PM »
before i had a driver's license, i hit a 41'' northern too far forward. 2 tines thru the nose.  it kicked off the spear in less than 5 feet of water.     3 days later, my buddies brother-in-law got the fish with a clean shot just behind the skull.   since then, i've always had a second spear in the shack.  my main spear is a 7 tine. the back-up is an old 5 tine that's got to be close to 60 years old now. both razor sharp.
.
am i the only one who has a back-up at the ready?
.
the main spear rests on my right shoulder, tied to the right wall.   the back-up rests against the right wall, tied off to the ceiling.

A back up spear works well saved me from losing a 35' 12lb pike! ;D
