Title: Acme Hyper Rattle
Post by: Water Wolf on Dec 28, 2017, 09:19 PM
Hi all,
I was wondering if any of you have tried the acme hyper rattle yet?

If so, how did it work for you?
Is the rattle loud or soft?
Does it glide OK?

I was playing with one, (only one I bought) cuz the fish weren't biting on this day.

The rattle is little.  Don't buy it for the rattle.  The glide is decent just as good as same size jigging (shad) rap03.  Didn't fish clear water, so I couldn't see well enough but maybe three feet under and it was river so some current.  Two tie holes, so the forward one should maximize glide, while rear one should reduce glide.

It is a heavy weight lure.  The small one has a weight of 10 grams.  That's pretty close to 3/8 ounce.  Compared to jigging (shad) rap03 at 3/16 oz.  Compared to the Hyper Glide lure of nearly same size at only 3 grams, about 1/8 ounce.

The mean looking eyes reminds me of Spro lures, or the Berkley ripple shad plastic lure.

Interesting, thanks for the info on the hyper rattle.  :)

Will have to give it a try and see how it goes.

This lure is so good looking, the impulse buyer got two more to complete all three sizes.

It is a bit weird to find out that the middle sized one at 50mm, only has one line tie hole.  The largest sized one at 60mm has two line tie holes.

Thanks for starting this WW and for your info slippery. This one is near the top of my list but with two big boxes of JRs and Shivers it's hard to pull the trigger. It does seem to bring enough "different" where I probably won't be able to help myself.

Interesting that it's so heavy for its size. I wonder if that is due to the additional wing area on the drop.

The Hyper Glide is the one with the wings and they're rather lightweight.
Size, weight
HG4, 3 grams about 1/8 oz
HG5, 5,5 grams about 3/16 oz
HG6, 10 grams about 3/8 oz

The heavy weight of the Hyper Rattle
Size, weight
40mm, 10 grams about 3/8 oz
50mm, 17 grams about 5/8 oz
60mm, 28 grams about 7/8 oz

compare to
jigging rap
W3, 3/16 oz
W5, 5/16 oz
W7, 5/8 oz

and I thought Jigging Raps were heavy...not anymore.

Ive used the smallest one.  The crappie seem to prefer a jig head with a wax worm.

Since my last posted on this subject, I see there is another lure kind of similar to the Acme Hyper Rattle called "Tilly",
made by Phantom lures. www.phantomlures.com (http://www.phantomlures.com)
The Tilly is also a glide type bait with a built in rattle.

I think 3 baits look good (The Hyper Rattle, Hyper Glide and Tilly Phantom).
I might have to try 1 of each some time. ;)
