believe me, it only gets better as you learn to feel the bites and set the hook. You will love the rod and jigs

I've been looking to buy 2 rods myself. There is a guy on eBay selling them for $19.99 a rod but he doesn't respond to my messages to him because he mentions about buying multiple items, he will discount shipping than bang you for each item. So I was going to buy 2 rods and 2 packages of jigs. Got nothing back from him, so my search for an online shop continues...

Might also want to look at the Jonttu rod also. http://www.yourbobbersdown.com/palmrods.html I have two marmish rods but am going to pick up a Jonntu rod to try out, it looks like a very nice rod.

SKIPPER  Where are the fish biting? I caught some nice big crappies on lakes here near Hutchinson before Christmas, but now they have stopped biting. Any good lakes up your way that would be worth the drive? Warmfeet

Ann and Knife, Kanabec County, the trick is getting there when they are hungry. If they are not biting down there, chances are they are not biting here either. :-\

I think handlining is very inefficient

I find the handling to work great. I like hand lining, it's more of a challenge than simply reeling it in. Just more satisfying I guess

The competition rod is more sensitive, but you definetly won't have sensitivity problems with either model

I just tried the max rod fishing for gills in shallow water and must say it was pretty amazing. They came, they saw,and I conquered.I did snap a jig off on a nice one and rerigging was a pain but Im ordering 2 more of the basic ones today.

The competition rod has a couple more points to thread the line through and uses a flexible fiberglass blank instead of a firm plastic one like the std model. I have two standard marmish's and they work great.
