I just hook mine to the hook tender or the eye and cinch it tight, been doing that way for 3 years on 3 of the poles and they spring right back.

I do the same as mentioned previously except for my Thorne Bros custom sweetheart perch rod.  The supplied spring bobber is removable, thus I remove it, allow it to sit straight on the line, hook it to the hook tender and snug it tight.

I use small jigs and just reel up to the spring bobber, then tighten the drag.

I have spring bobbers on all my rods, love them. As far as travel goes, I will put the jig on the rod and tighten down the lne where the spring bobber is  bent right over, never hurts it bud.  That was a concern of mine as well, but hasnt seem to be a bother yet!

I use the HT snap ons with the flat spring. When I put them on the rod I push the spring back through the snap on, straighten the bend in the spring & pull it out of the snap on. I then thread the spring through the standoffs on the rod & put the snap on back on rebending the spring. This keeps the spring from chafing your eyelets & you can push the spring into the standoffs when the rod is not in use.

what about the actual "spring" bobber like the ones made by frabill. Think it hurts them to leave them bent over for storage?

I believe that's what we are all talking about (actual spring) except Sam, he uses HT's. I have a pole with a flat HT and I just push it back thru the second eye and reel up like normal.

I don't use them. They are froze up most of the time. Only the eyelet will freeze on the flat spring & the tension is adjustable by sliding the spring in or out of the snap on. I failed to mention I wrap the snap on with a small piece of electrical tape.

I hear ya Sam, that's why I have a couple rods with flats, for those really cold days.

I agree with the spring type bobbers not having memory. Forgot my spring bobbers all summer with tension on them. They were fine.

Not to ruin the economy... But I have started to use just a spring through the eyelet and vinal tape around that and the rod.   What started out as a cob-job, is my favorite for really light action.

I like the up ward bend too but, I don't think witch way the line is stored effects it.

I had six sit all summer, did not have any problems.

If they did bend you could just twist them to spring up.
As for the spring chaffing the line, I usually cut off 15 to 20 feet of old line when the season starts anyway.
