Posted this in reports by mistake....

Is the ice off the lake now? I was looking to do a little trolling for lakers in the next few weeks for the first time and was looking for a little advise.  I know you don't have to pay for a permit up until a certain date? Where can you launch from? I've heard there is some good fishing up in NW bay, is there a launch up there? if someone could PM with some help on where you can launch and what the regs are I would really appreciate it because I have no experience with LG on the open water at all.  Thanks!

There are some free launch sites around the lake, Million Dollar Beach, Hague Town Launch, & Black Point State Launch. As for permits, yes there some.

If it's anything like last year Dom you should be able to catch lots of them. With the low temps this coming week it shouldn't be long before we are on.

I'm beefing the heck out of my rod arsenal this year.
I'm beefing up some of the kids and rookies I fish with for Xmas too. ;)
I forcast some major bloodbaths and scale showers on the king every weekend.  ;D
I think I'm going to nickname that black custom one of 307's guys built, "The Perch Hearse".  @)

Welcome back everyone, shouldn't be too long till we can get back out there, for the bays anyway. Checked Huddle Bay just before dark this evening, probably will be some guys out there tomorrow based on past years.

Fishing should be good(as usual) this winter for the lakers, we boated good numbers all summer and put most of them back; salmon fishing was lousy.  Here's a few good trout:

Also should be some pike around, there numbers seem to be up, saw quite a few bass that were scarred up this summer from teeth. Here's one that was caught on the surface over 160 feet of water in mid-August.

Also, there are some big pumpkinseeds out there that should be mixed in with the perch; they are tasty, too. This one was 10" long, caught while bass fishing.

Speaking of bass, even though they are closed during the winter, they are doing great also.

Looks like an awesome summer,  cant wait till the ice is ready, for the last few seasons we did nothing but perch fish for slabbers , but last season changed that when we decided to try our hand at some lakers. I really didnt believe that some guys were jigging up twenty lakers in one day until we found a honey hole from heaven, everytime we went there we honestly jigged up over a hundred and twenty lakers between four of us everytime  we went there.  I cant tell you where but i can tell you we used nothing but 4" venom white tube jigs with red and white tails and a small piece of a hunts  minnow.  Try this and you will catch lakers for sure. Stay safe out there people and have an awesome year.  Its looking good early .
