Is this a BS thread or a reports thread?   If its a reports thread its probably going to get moved to the reports board.... ;)

I personally think they are good early spots, not great, but good enough to venture out to.  Any reports on conditions should be in another thread,,,,,which no one is reporting to as of today.
Take the pledge, be safe, enjoy every second of life and lets go JETS!

Hey Geo, have you been on the river lately? There, now it's a BS thread. Hope to see you all out on the hard water, soon!

I believe it's usually the first Sat in Feb. Check the Oxford Lions Club website. They are the ones who run it. ;)

Yup, February 7th, can't wait. With any luck it won't conflict with the crappie derby this year. I want to attend both!!!

Rugburn you're in luck, the Whitney Point Crappie derby will be held on Saturday January 31st, 2015. I used to love fishing this derby but it always seems to conflict with all my other ice fishing adventures the past several years.

Went to Hunts 2 years ago, only caught dinks. Maybe I was in the wrong spot, and maybe that has changed? Millbrook seemed a little better. Remember no gas on Millbrook.

I fished both last year. I caught some decent gills and seeds at Hunts Pond. The fishing was better for me at Millbrook with some good catches of Crappies, Sunfish, and Bass. I had the electric Auger with me at Millbrook I was not aware of the no gas rule there.  Thanks for the heads up.

Just a heads up for anyone fishing Chenango Lake, there are 6 dock bubblers on the west shore. A couple of years ago there were 2, last year there were 4. Seems to be getting very popular on that shoreline, and potentially dangerous for unsuspecting hard water anglers.

Thanks for the heads up on no gas. I have used my gas auger there in the past with no issues. Where are the rules posted?

I've never fished it through the ice but in the open season it is extremely popular. It always seems to be fished pretty hard and especially on opening day of trout season. Shoulder to shoulder!

No trout in the Lake, they would be in the northern section of the river.

It's a reservoir for the city below, pretty sure the rules are posted on a sign there.

Oh my bad. I thought you guys were talking about the Chenango lake located in Chenango Valley state park. I didn't realize there was another one!  :o

Looking to head out this way on Wednesday. Thinking about hitting long pond for the first time, 2 hour drive or so for me  so if anyone would want to meet up and fish together let me know.

Balsam pond  is in a state forest according to the NY DEC website. Is it a rough seasonal road into it or is it not that bad?

Looking to try and get into some pickerel this weekend.

Might head down there.  Depends on the wind.  If I do I'll be in an fx100 blue flip over.  Stop by and tell me some tales   G.
