i would love to find out  .....  my little 26 inch light action rod handled my 17 pound laker ok  ;)

i have always thought about bringing a spinning rod and 10 pound test out on the hudson during the spring run but common sense has always gotten the best of me  ::)

40 pounds...   when did you see one of those that big through the ice.....  What size hole would you need for that thing.  probably 10" plus several whacks with the spud around that.

I really wanted to try for some stripes through the ice this year but I had limited trips out and needed to ill the freezer so I went to lakes that I knew I could.  I Had lots of big baits for once to and access to more

Are those line holders below your spools a custom rig or did you buy them like that. i have some laker tip-ups and I was thinking of doing something like that to them.  i have had to many fish take of sideways on them or even had big baits swim in the right direction and pull line of the side of the tip-up with out tripping the flags.

I don't believe theres any "official" records but I believe 1 of the bait shops used to keep records of the biggest fish they weighed in
