OK if i read the memo correctly ::) it says that the total weight of 10 perch per person for the derby. if you take 10 perch that are 13"+ in which we all is not going to happen out on the pond. each fish that size from that body of of water might be about 1/2 pound+ each. = not even close to 8 pounds. you will be lucky to see an 8# stink log ::) ::) Just saying but who knows ::) ::) ::) ::) ;D
-
Yes Yes Yes I will be there to collect my winnings lol
-
LOL last year March, i won perch derby(deaf icefishing perch invitational) 10 fished with 9.38 lbs 2 - 13 inches 5- 12 inches 1 - 11 inches fatty and 2-10ish inches

Having handled tons of perch over the years, I'm gonna say there's no way that those fish weigh over 9 lb's with 10, 11 and 12 inch perch mixed in. If they were Oneidas during the late ice pre spawn period, it would be closer but thgose fish are down right skinny !
I'm thinking a not so accurate scale ! ;)

Im a dummy ignore the post about the derby next weekend i put on. i forgot this thread was here.
-
Correct!
-
Hey boggey, if you want "official" pics of the winners, let me know, I'll swing by the SPSH anytime you like and take pics.
-
I would say if you pay for entry fees in all the tournaments its ok just as long its caught from sandypond and not some where like oneida.
-
Boggey, I am so glad your Grand youngin got a pike. I know how excited he was because I got my first pike on a tipup just as you were coming out yesterday. It was about 22" - 23". I had a great time, and hope to do it again soon. Who won the Boggey tourney between you 2? Thanks for all the tips and tricks.
-
Sounds like a plan to me. If you want to try for some monster pike, let me know. I am heading up to Cranberry on the 13 th for a few days. I can't promise any success, as this will be my first time ice fishing there. It should be a good time.
-
Boggey it was nice meeting you today. Hope to see you on the pond someday.
-
Anybody know if the steakhouse will have their liquor license this weekend??... got a friend that wants to know.... ::)
-
(http://i745.photobucket.com/albums/xx96/pondskiper/mms_picture-2.jpg)

-

-
Looking forward to this derby-l like that it's one day. I also like that its top ten fish-this puts emphasis on skill not as much luck. What is the the "pike lunker" extra? Is this the one top pike caught that day?
-

Big shout out to all of you who participated in the SPSH tournament. Weatherwise it was a great day to be on the Pond even though it ended with a blanket of heavy snow at the final presentations. Speaking for Chris Jones and Vince Sabatini, the organizers for the host, Eastern Penn Deaf Bass Anglers , who want to thank all participants for a fun tournament. Also, speaking on behalf of the local sponsers, SPSH owners Ann , Linda and staff who would also like to thank you for your patronage and attendance. As many of you know who have organized these events in the past, they do not just happen. A lot of work and planning go into pulling off a sucessful tournament. My hat goes off to all the above for there tireless efforts. Additionally, thank you to Mrs. Sandy Ponder for her great photographic skills.
Personally I had a great time meeting new people and matching faces to IS monikers I have been talking with on line for the last few months. I also got to meet two of the greatest guys, Chris and Vince, who work so tirelessly for there cause. I am sure I have met two new life long friends. Bigbucks (Chris) promises to be back next year with a bigger and better tournament. The tourny date has already been set for Feb 4th . I also have to mention Chris and Vince brought a large contingent of Quaker Staters with them, over half of the entrants were from PA. Now I might add in closing, a friendly challenge to those Pennsylvania guys who came up here to challenge the supremacy of the Sandy Pond regulars. It ain't goin to happen baby. In fact next year a trophy will be given out to the State or the local guys who win the most points in the friendly competition. Thanks to Ernie Pasternoster from Oswego, a pond regular, Pondskipper, our lone IS finalist and Matt Rubley who lives on the pond, I am relatively sure the trophy will stay in our hands, although a big shout out goes to Curt Sparks a Pennsylvanian who not only took 4th place overall, but won the largest perch category outright with a 1.08 pound monster. Congratulations to all and see you next year for the big challenge.
