I bought a Jiffy Pro 4 last season, I love it. 1 or 2 pulls every time. I started it a few weeks back after setting all summer, 2 pulls. Now waiting on good ice!

The jiffy propane is also 4-stroke. I have the pro-4 10". I like it but it can be a PITA when it is -20*F, temperamental due to the propane not flowing well from a small canister when cold I believe. If you're getting the 8", it's probably safe to assume you're not fishing in temps below zero often, propane probably serve you fine. The pro-4 is heavy though, not good for hole hopping. Starts 1-2 pulls every time  ;D. Were you thinking of the pro-4 or pro lite?
Strikemaster aren't popular up here at all, I've only seen one once. They do have a loyal following though.
It seems like every manufacturer occasionally makes a "lemon". Stay away from a "lemon" and you'll be happy.
It must be something in the water.

2nd year for my Jiffy Pro 4 lite, starts easy, runs good. Previous experience was with a cordless drill setup ( which I liked ) but after burning through a few costly drills over the years,  went with propane.  So far no complaints   good luck whichever way you go
Remember those that served..All gave some...Some gave All

My pro 4 lite is pretty light. It may not cut as fast as some others, but I don't care about it cutting fast. It's all about not having to do it by hand.

 Hard tell'n, not know'n

Second year for my Strikemaster/Honda 8". Starts easily, cuts well and weighs 23 lbs. It has never leaked gas or oil and can be run or stored in any position.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

The jiffy 4 lite 4cycle and strikemaster 4 g lite are both newer models correct? Jiffys is 26lb the Honda unit 23.Both sound like great units.

The 4G Lite is a Jiffy 4 stroke gasoline fueled auger. The Strikemaster/Honda Lite 4 stroke also runs on gasoline and weighs 23 lbs.
