I've had my ION for five season or so (GEN1 first year with reverse) and yesterday my auger started and stopped as I was drilling a hole. Battery was fully charged and in a bag with hand warmer as per usual so Im guessing it might be time to replace it or is something else going on?
I have a spare battery and it works as it should when I put that one in
Sorry, to be clear, it sounds like the safety interlock is not staying engaged when you press it because the internal spring is failing. That’s the actual issue.
I ran into the same issue. I completely removed the safety mechanism and like it much better. The safety mechanism is complete overkill IMO. You have battery drills that can tear your arm off that don't have a safety switch yet Ion's have one.
I am real good at disassembling things. Reassembling is the challenge.
eliminate safety switch, i did soon as got mine
Or just mount the auger to a cordless drill.Much better power option.I sold my ion battery and charger and put it towards a Rigid octane with 9Ah batteries. Then threw the ion power unit in the dumpster. Never looked back.
Mine is doing the same (5 years old) with a full charge. Bought a new battery $67 from SG a couple weeks ago and is okay now.
Zeker259 I m not familiar with SG where you bought the battery from for $67. I can’t find one for less than 200 bucks here in Manitoba. What is SG?
