sodus bay is locked
« on: Jan 16, 2012, 07:27 AM »
Yes gents its finally on. Sodus bay had 2" right off the side of connelys and building only about 20yrd of shor by 40 yrd it was down under a 1". Leroy had about a 1" where we checked but couldnt get out to check the real ice cuz the dang aerators. All in all it is coming lets just hope it holds up for the next few days and no lake effect. Cross your fingers.

Seems like every year there is at least 1 guy falling through in Sodus.  Stay away from the aerators!

Im talking 4fow so if my 6'6 @$$ gose thru my head is above water. I wasnt tryin to fish just checking it all and sodus is not getting rain we getting snow so these next 2 days in the mid thirtys will help melt any snow out there. One of my buddies is out on fair haven as we speak wasnt catching ne thing. He will probly getting off soon. And if u look at the hourly forecast there is only like 5 hrs on tuesday its above freezing so that means we will not lose ice to temps maybe to wind and snow weight.

Thanks but this chart does not show lat./long. I have a new computer and lost the site. It would show lat/long. when you move your cursor to any place on the chart.

Lets not get too ambitious.

Remember, my friend Gary died on sodus 2 years ago, apparently thinking the ice was "safe enough".

Please wait till it's really safe.

Was at the bait shop today didnt look much thinner then sunday just had the water. If there was 2 inches then we prolly lost 1/4-1/2" and with the water on top that will freeze faster. Looked to be about 1/2-1" of water on the bay. We should be good for this weekend. Will have to check tomorrow see how the wind treated us

I also drove the bay on Sunday from Leroy to the Point, the ice looked iffy at best and I can't believe it is any better now with the warm weather and wind. This early in season stay safe and wear a PFD.

Hey guys, from Auburn Sodus is always our first hard water spot. Just wondering how it held up over last nights wind and rain?
