Does your wife think your losing it?
« on: Dec 01, 2008, 09:10 AM »
Was talking back and forth with a fellow IS member and decided this would be a interesting post to start.  How many of you fellow IS members think your wife or husband think your losing it and are a little obsessed with all the ice fishing gear and toys you have and also all the blogging and time you spend on this cool site?

I wish mine did!  Instead, she has decided to go ice fishing, open water fishing, hunting, and everything else that used to be holy, with me.  I had to take up bow hunting this year, just so I could get out and do something with out her tagging along, then we are at Cabela's the other day and she wants to look at bows!  Now I know how Lee Lakosky feels.   ;D

Of course she thinks I'm crazy. That's the main reason she married me!

My wife thinks I'm a total nut.  No question about that.  At least icefishing keeps me out of the house when I'm with my drinking buddies.  Don't have to worry about big Al peeing on the toilet seat if we are out on the ice.

When she starts talking about sewing our own clothes or putting a solar panel on the house, then I think she is the one that is nuts.

"Why would you get out of a nice warm bed at 4 in the morning to go sit on a frozen lake in subzero temperatures and maybe, if you're lucky, catch a couple fish that weigh less than a pound?"

I gotta say... she makes a good point.

You might get a PB.   ;D  And if you don't, it'll be more fun than anything you could do and still have your clothes on. ::)

Great Thread Fin N Feather!

I hafta admit my wife's pretty good about my "affair with fishing" ::)

I am out every weekend Sat/Sunday and even during the week on occasion. ( only because I hafta work during the week )
I stop at a bait/tackle shop on the way home from work at least once a week and
I also am on the FF and/or IS everyday for at least an hour.

There have been some altercations in the past due to my addiction where she has gotten pretty upset.  ???
I am guilty of habitually coming home late from fishing and taking " 5 more minutes" which is usually a 1/2 hour on the IS/FF
She's actually come down a couple times in the birthday suit to pry me away :o

I've got a Great wife who puts up with me and I do need to remind myself of whats more important sometimes. Fis.. NOOO I mean her of coarse! ;)

I took the wife and kids out ice fishing almost 10 years ago. It was a great day with some sunshine, barbecue with food and spirits and even caught a couple of small brookies. It all ended when she was wipping my son around on a plastic sled, slipped and fell and split her head open. Since that day she insists I go by myself.

Been married 20 years and she has been fishing with me the whole time. So I am not the only one who needs that shiny new reel I just get 2 and I am off the hook. On the other hand she still thinks I am crazy because well I am! :o

There's a reason I'm single!!!!  ;D
I don't want to ask any one permission to go fishing, buy tackle etc.
Although with a second income there would be more $$$$$ available for toys.....HMMMMMMMMMMMM MMMMMMMM

This is "Release" (Filet's other half). I must admit, I'd rather be out in the boat on a nice summer morning, watching the sun come up while reeling in a nice walleye, but ice fishing can be a pretty good time, too. Yeah, he lost it a long time ago, but I can think of a lot worse obsessions than fishing!

My wife does think it's weird that I'm on this site, & meeting up with people I meet on here out on the ice.  But, in my defense, I moved from where I grew up to be with her, & it is hard to meet people around here that have the same obsession for the sport as I do.  As far as the nudie sites go, I still go on them, & those of you that say you don't are liars or crazy bible believers that think it's a horrible sin.  Or your wife is on the site too & you don't want her to have proof you do! ;)

not once.......she loves to fish and we really enjoy our time together......each year we go on a trip to maine for either ice fishing or a great smallie trip......here's a look at a few of her accomplishments......

when chuck norris played golf for money, chuck marked down a hole in zero every time, the golf pro said, "chuck: you can't score zero on a hole." Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

My wife doesn't get the standing around on the cold ice but as long as it makes me happy she doesn't mind. She does go freshwater in the summer and enjoys the surroundings. So I guess I am lucky she doesn't b***h at me for enjoying my pastime.

My "domestic finance manager" doesn't mind too much if I buy a few jigs are other cheap stuff but will somewhat flip out if I say I want a new Vexilar, underwater camera, or glipi over.  I just throw it back in her face about how much she has invested in all her stamping/scapbooking crap.  Also my hobby has the chance of feeding the family once in a while.
