i dont know who the heck was saying granby ice was sketchy, but they were wrong. the slush all froze over creating about 15 inches of good hard ice underneath where I was at.
went out to a well known hump that is easy to get to, fished in 50 feet of water. saw fish that wouldnt commit, so I downsized to a small crappie glow tube jig with a small sliver of sucker meat, and that did the trick (as it usually does at granby.) had to jiggle it and watch the strike indicator... made me feel like i was perchin' at aurora. caught a limit and then bailed. if weather stays like this i'll be out there in april in board shorts and flip flops, pretending im at pass a grille again. love spring ice in grand county.... any excuse to eat at fat cats is fine with me.
