Demon Jigging Spoon?
« on: Dec 28, 2015, 04:07 PM »
I'm looking to "pound" some deep crappie. I have never used the Demon Jigging spoon, but it seems to get good reviews. Does anyone know the length of the 1/7oz DJS2?

Thanks,
Mark

I haven't fished with the CJS Demon but have used the very similar Lindy Frostee as my go to crappie lure in deeper water for several years.  I'm a big fan of the glow colors- red being my favorite, though I've done well with white (moon/silver) and chartreuse as well.  Come to think of it, blue has worked too.  I prefer the 1/16th oz. size (smallest - 5/8") with each of the trebles tipped with red spikes.  Some people swear by Buckshots but I have always had better luck with the Frostee.  We get quite a few suspended crappie in the 25-35' depths and the weight of the Frostee allows you to fish fast when the bite is on.

Forage Minnow spoons have also done well for me in similar configurations.

Use the smallest 1/20 size in clown color, if theres a crappie around he will hit it. These are lead spoons, they get down quick!

It's about 3/4" or 7/8" or so.
