SnowDog Transport
« on: Feb 23, 2019, 03:18 PM »
I'm looking hard at one of these for next winter and I'm hoping some current owners could give some feedback on transporting them on hitch cargo carriers vs trailers.
I'd prefer to go the cargo carrier w/ a cover route as 95% of my trips are <5-10miles and I have no other need for a trailer. Those using cargo carriers, do you use the travel cover SnowDog sells or are there better options out there?
Thanks in advance for any info!

I own the 13 horse Compact. Nice machine. I transport mine in a aluminum cargo carrier I bought at harbor freight. It is rated for 500 lbs.And the dog is around 300 lbs. For a cover I use a Gas Grill cover that I bought at Walmart for 20 bucks. Works for me.

Cover it totally. A tarp underneath, overlap a cover from the top. Had my homebuilt on a rack, not covered, got into some sanded/salted highway, lots of rust on the machine.

Unlike true dogs, Snowdogs neither swim nor float. Unlike true bears, neither do pink granite bear-stones.
