How deep is too deep
« on: Jan 27, 2017, 02:37 PM »
I am new to spearing so looking for information.  I have a lake that is very clear I was in 12 fow and could easily  see bottom I think I could see bottom in 30 fow.  I had 2 pike come in the first time I was out but neither really committed to the decoy and both came from deep water...the lake also drops off very fast.  I think both pike seen me move with very little movement.   How far off bottom will the pike come up to a decoy and in a clear  lake would a white decoy or more lifelike decoy work better.   Any info would be awsome thanks.

How deep do you want to retrieve stuff off the bottom☺? Depth doesn't matter much, they will come up to feed. Make sure you house is dark, no light leaks. I would go with more realistic decoys, the pike will be able to inspect them.
Trying is the first step to failure-Homer
