Species you jig for?
« on: Dec 23, 2011, 09:18 AM »
Here in CT, I mainly jig for Bluegill, Yellow Perch and Crappie.  I am fortunate to have local waters that produce quality gills, yellow perch and crappie.  By accident, I occasionally catch a trout, largemouth, smallmouth, walleye, pickerel or catfish.

What species is your favorite to jig for and why?

I jig for bluegill most of the time, but also crappie and perch, because they are plentiful and school together very tightly.

Jig for perch mostly...but last caught some big ol bass when jigging for perch. They went back down the hole though as they weren't in season...

I jig for anything.  In fact, I caught a 16" sucker last week while jigging for smelts and salmon.   ;D

Gills, Perch and Crappie.  I do catch the occasional Largemouth and have had my line mysteriously dissapear on me, damn Northerns.
