New Custom Lake Trout Rod ...
« on: Sep 23, 2004, 01:14 PM »
About two months ago I recieved a lake trout rod I had ordered from our very own Reb of Reb's Rods. The rod far exceeded my expectations and I have been meaning to post a few pictures but I've been busy with my new baby girl, her baptism, etc.. The rod really shows the pride and craftsmanship that goes into them. Unfortunately the pictures don't do the rod justice.  Thank you Reb !  ;D

LoneWolf, I have to agree with you on Reb's Rods. The one he made for me was very well made and I am very happy with it. You could tell he took his time to make a quality product. I can't wait until this ice season to try it out for the first time! ;D

That's an awesome looking rod. As my name implies, lake trout through the ice is my passion. I had a great year numbers wise last year but nothing big at all. I did hook a 30 plus pounder on my tip up, only to have the hook pop out right near the hole.
I use a 34" frabill ultra ice medium heavy action jigging rod and it seems to do fine. I do have a fair amount of problems with lakers spitting the hook though. So I am looking for a longer rod that has a tad more give in the tip. I am going to get a 42" or so thorne bros. graphite rod for this winter. On one outing last year I landed 8 lakers and hooked 17. That always drives me nuts to lose lots of macks.

I have a custom lake trout rod. It is about 2". Nice spine for a good hookset softer tip to keep a barbless hook in them. My brother-in-law gets them made by a guy he works with. Great rod.

I also have a rod that Reb made for me.  It looks good, is very well
made, with a good backbone, but yet very sensitive. I cannot wait
to use it on the hardwater. For anyone that wants a good quality
rod made to your specs, Reb is the man!

How much are you charging for that lake trout rod? I am in the market for a new one.
if anybody from michigan will help me out with the lakes and stuff up here I'd really appreciate it since I'm new to the area.

Those Rods are tempting Reb. I'm looking for a new one too, something that is longer with more measured give, cause I lose a lot of fish. Are they graphite? how long are they and is the action medium or heavy?

Price is based on how "custom" you want your rod.  What materials you want it made out of, etc.  I'd be happy to work you up a price. Just drop me an email     [email protected]
