Big Reservoir Ice Conditions
« on: Jan 16, 2015, 11:12 AM »
Folks, I have been asked to pass this along, so I am going to. . . .

Hearing reports from several of our larger bodies of water, our large reservoirs, about some "tricky" ice conditions. I do not think it is any different this winter than it is other years, but there have been some folks who have dropped vehicles through the ice, especially some of the larger and heavier "UTV's". Our larger bodies of water are very much wind-swept and the ice may not be as thick as you would expect in some areas. In addition there are always ice heaves and shifts in the ice sheets that you have to watch for. Be especially careful along shorelines, getting on and off of the ice, and in necked-down areas of any kind.

If you are going to be running ATV's, snowmobiles or the larger, heavier UTV's, I would be darned careful!!!!!
