Got the otter cabin! Can't wait
-
Congrats! That new Otter stuff is the bee's knees.
-
Congrats, I too joined the Otter family!
-
The Otter will be my next new one! Congrats on your purchase!

You are going to love it

I love the durability of the otter huts. Then I like the side entry of the Frabill, hate stepping over flashers, heater, and holes to get in or out. Then I like the white inside of the sled on the Clams, all your stuff disappears in a black sled, lol. So could someone just combine all these features. LOL. I could do a white bed liner coating on a black sled, then if I could just get the poles and tent material from a Frabill to fit on an otter sled I would be good to go. :-)

Very nice Duke. I too joined team otter this year , I helped a buddy put his together last year ,I thought it was made very well and after fishing next to him last year in my clam I thought it's definetly worth 20-30% more all day long! Imo.

I agree. Otter definitely has clam beat on quality of construction.

I got my Otter pro cabin all geared up and ready for a trip to Webster SD in a couple weeks, first time heading up there it sounds like the weather is finally starting to churn out some safe ice.
-
I just purchased my first flip over ice shelter. Otter was a bit to big for my vehicle, so I went with the clam Yukon X. Just finished putting it together and boy is it snazzy. Can't wait to take it to South Dakota.

I sat in a buddy's Yukon the other day Vexialr23, I think you'll really enjoy it.

Ditto! I currently have a Yukon and it is the perfect size for one or even two! Enjoy!

Are the "thermal" shacks worth the extra money?

Are the "thermal" shacks worth the extra money?
IMO. Yes. Less heater usage-no dripping.
-
Still trying to convince the wife my clam explorer is wore out so I can buy an otter
-
I really like the heavier thermal material in the wind as well.
-
If you like to be mobile and have some extra ice room check out the Eskimo Wide One Inferno. Great shelter, otter definitely has the leg up on a more durable sled though.
-
I bought an otter last year and it is a little bulky and heavy but its a great quality. I also got a great deal on it so there was no way I was passing it up ;D
-
Congrats The otter Cabin is an awesome hut. Its pretty sweet how dark it is in those things compared to the clams.

I bought an otter lodge 900 thermal a couple years ago. The velcro started to rip some of the stitching loose but it sees a lot of time on the ice, also the sled is made of heavy plastic which hasn't wore too much yet. Zero degree days are still a little chilly inside if you don't snow in the apron. The only problem is it does take two men to load it into the back of a pickup.
