Looking for U.P. Black Crappie Lakes
« on: Jan 06, 2013, 07:08 PM »
I greatly enjoy ice fishing for black crappies; mostly a catch & release fisherman.  Looking for any suggestions on lakes in the U.P. that may contain black crappies.  Good ice fishing to all this season; be safe on the ice.  Thank you.  Jeff
P.S.  PM me if you prefer.

ive only caught dinks in levasseur...however ...fishermans lore also says there are big perch...and the only way to get them is this...bring a case of beer, set up shanty, turn on heat...drill holes all around shanty(outside)use tip ups...ans BE QUIET!...the water is so shallow there the fish feel every move you make...i havent tried this yet...but im going to...ive seen pix...better never actually seen it happen.
i just know they will bite if i stay another hour.

in mid winter i've found the crappies just off and to the left of the boat launch...mid way of the "channel".  i've also caught pike right there at times...smaller perch too.  haven't been out yet this year, if i do i will let you know if i find them!
