Just getting back into ice fishing after taking about 15 years off.  Back in the day there used to be really good fishing in the bay at white earth.  Is that still true?
Thanks.

Hi all- new member here. We went out south of the Silos and fished from 7:30-noon. Lot's of folks out today, we didn't catch a thing, and I don't think anyone else did any better. Looking for trout about 150 yards from the shore. Ice was 8-10" and water about 10'. We then tried at the marina / boat docks at the Silo's- nadda. Not a nibble all day. Bummer.

4 of us spent the day near the upper end .. many poles... just 6 bites and 3 landed....we were in 6-9 FOW....11 inches of good ice... nasty pressure ridge out about 200 yards. we could see a fish get caught every once in a awhile by our neighbors, about like us ...SLOW ... but what a nice day to go fishin'...TG

I don't suppose there are any crappie in CF.  I would like to find some place around Bozeman to find them.

No crappie, and in my opinion, not worth the drive from bozeman for the other species...

Canyon Ferry was quite slow for us on new years.  One nice rainbow at the silos.  Bent the hook out on a much nicer 2 footer plus bow, and one light nibble.  we did better than most around us. Had to hit some stockers on the way back to Missoula to make ourselves feel better.

The FWP fish surveyor said ice is actually building compared to midweek, so there's still hope, at least of the silos area.

I fished duck creek area last weekend. There was 10" of good ice and a pressure ridge across the bay towards the Cemetery. There were folks out as far as you would ever want to walk and some on wheelers. I fished in close to shore trying to find pike, but had no luck.

Well I think Duck CR is where I'll be tomorrow.  My daughter has enjoyed going out with me but I have yet to get her on any fish.  I sure hope I can soon so she doesnt lose interest.  Thanks for all the tips guys..

Just thought I'd start a new one for Canyon Ferry.  Kind of hoping to see fishn comments instead of a bunch of regulation talk.
Not trying to be a pain, but tired of reading thru a bunch of the same stuff while trying to see how the fishing is.

silos is the only place with somewhat stable ice, i do know a couple of 4 wheelers have went under and 2 ice shacks so tread lightly, with the temps nothing is stable right now.  Other than that i have yet to fish canyon ferry but i did talk to the fish bioligist he told me that this is the best perch hatch he has seen in some time now, Im hopefull that this may be the year for some good perch fishing. I have talked to some friends of mine who so far this year pulled up some perch, walleye and pike.  So the signs look good im just waiting for thicker ice

I'm just picking on ya, thanks for the info too! thats awesome you're into them on cf, I always think it would be sweet to keep tally, days fished vs fish caught, all that goes out the window when I'm catching though!
