My predictions from Sept. then Oct. for the period from Sept. to the end of the year, have been , ( to steal a quote from the almanac believers ) " RIGHT ON THE MONEY " ... The next 2 to 2 1/2 months will bring much of the same warmth but there will be fierce cold fronts with possible lake snows that last for a day or two with high winds and brief cold shots that wont last more then 2 days . During these cold shots the wind will blow from the North West for 12 to 36 Hrs. then change back to its predominant South West position and warm temps. It will never stay cold long enough to make lake ice until at best the last week in Feb. and that will be too late for most of PA. JAN. and FEB. will average no less the 5 deg. above normal. I hope I'm dead wrong but that's the way i see it.

There's been lots of ice seasons that we didn't get out on the ice until after new years and the seasons turned out all right. Be patient it will come. It's comical how some people are ready to call the season off just because we don't have ice yet and it's been warmer than normal.

I sold my RMC Accusporter to help pay for a Marcum LX-7. Not looking like a smart decision at the moment.

In hate to ADMITT IT but,I KINDA AGREE,[[ICESEASON IS OVER BEFORE IT STARTED]]...
Im all tagged out on deer,..Gunna have to CROW,and COYOTE hunt most of JANUARY and then CONCENTRATE on tHE WALLEYS in the DELAWARE from February ON.
This will be the first year us guys up North wont have ice as long as I can remember....
If NY gets ice,,, ill fish there a trip or 2 and, im trying to plan a trip to MAINE to icefish BROOK TROUT....
GOTTA SEE HOW THINGS PAN OUT.....
I still have hope in the back of my mind that we will get some ice here in PA.

I agree, the ice will come. It may not be the safest or longest season but there will be ice, if not hit the open water and enjoy the warm weather..... I would rather be walking on water, but if ice doesn't come I will just use big bobbers as my tippy's

and still get it in. There is one bright side to warmer weather..........the money I am saving on firewood to heat my home will buy me an LX-9 next season, hahahahaha

We will have ice... think small and protected when it does get cold.

I actually saw a small shallow pond that had 1/2 ice on it today. Almost ran off road looking at it. I still am hopeful for a short season which would be better than nothing. Bought another wicked 13 Light action today while x-mas shopping. Need to try it out. Nez

Was at Field and Stream in Altoona today and they had rapala ice baits on sell, buy one and get next for 50% off. Could not justify getting any more d/t a full box of lures and not using any…YET, few of us are talking about Michigan mid January if no local ice.

hold off on purchases at Cabelas ,went there today and sales person said sales of anything ice fishing related are at a standstill, if no change in next couple weeks they have to start dumping inventory quickly, translation big sale!!!!
