I put the sled away after work yesterday… started taking tackle box inventory last night… probably will be prowling the river this coming weekend.

i went on a local lake lastnight a few inches of water and snow on the edges but still well over 20 inches of ice on it. as long as it stays cold at night we will have atleast two more weeks in the north country.

I think its time to put the gear away...I ONLY had 11" of ice here in the Wyoming Valley...and all the slop that I was breaking through walking out at 3pm was frozen solid when I walked off at 6  ;)

Get the same "Wah its over" threads every year, despite the state having several places with good ice yet. ::)

Just put may gear away for the year.  I fished pecks this week and it was very good at the 402 launch but a lot of snow melting and very soft edges.  we used snow shoes to reach good ice and did great but with the warm weather coming and sunny skies the snow will melt fast and fill the lake.  I think we could get one more week if it wasn't for the snow melt.  Could not get in at white deer due to the deep snow.

We did not have a sub zero cold snap this year....sure would be sweet to get one for a couple days, after the next couple of warm days...might extend the season longer than some care for it to be around though...

If anyone is still interested Glendale has 12-13" of ice yet and Black Moshannon has 15-24" of ice yet and the fish are biting.
Never get excited there's a reason for everything,I just don't know what it is??

I checked more than several lakes yesterday and the least ice I found was 8"...and once again I'm in the valley with basically no elevation compared to most of the state  ::)

It ain't over til it's over! Just don't tell my wife I said that. ;) Like ski said there is plenty of ice at elevation. I never cease to be amazed by the climate change from around Tannersville to the top of the plateau. Guys were fishing those higher elevation lakes within a day of the first reports from Maine, and some of theirs were on puddles! Kind of makes you go hmmmmmmmm.....

Extend the season! 83 season fronts every couple days lot of snow, sub cold snaps. Ice fished to the day before trout opening mid april in the southeast!

Exactly. I was walking on the frozen layer on top of the snow yesterday, even held me in the afternoon after the sun was hitting it for hours.

I'm in SE PA and drove 1 1/4 hours to get to enough clear ice that can hold up a small pickup truck. I averaged probablly 11mpg for the trip.

Also live in SE PA, and drove a little under two hrs. One of the reasons I own a Tacoma 4cyl.; averaged at least 20+ mph. Plus the accelerator didn't stick once! ;D Would have turned around and done it again today, but my marriage might have ended abruptly; spouse looking something like this: :%$#!:

The ice is 15" thick where I've been fishing! and the edges are fine! All the snow we had melted and turned to ice! But I know that can change real quick, too! Be careful out there!

I found the same conditions today...the crusty layer on top softened throughout the day, but still 15-20" and an easy pull..

Far from it.
Lots of places with 20" of ice.

BE CAREFUL OUT THERE. CONDITIONS CAN CHANGE RAPIDLY IN A SHORT TIME!
