Ice fishing is great and anyone that can walk, can fish, and with a little help have some success with very little knowledge or equipment. Hunting on the other hand is a whole other league ,to have even the slightest bit of success requires many hours of labor and practice and to be an accomplished hunter , hunting on big land or another state is a full time job. I don't ice fish until after Christmas each year .but for me to get my gear ready from the basement check it out get it in the truck gas up the auger than go get bait, 3 maybe 4 hr. tops . My prep time for hunting season is 9 months it started the day after hunting season ended.

You all are fantastic and hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am also, obviously an ice fisherman, but also a hunter and I could relate to each comment that was written. My wife and I were laughing more at the hits on this site than David Letterman's top 10 each night

And if I could add my comment............... .. when i get cold while ice fishing I light the lantern in the hut.................wh en i get cold in the treestand............. .... I wish I was in the hut!!!!!!

You can at least cook on the ice and the fish dont seem to mind...pull a grill out in the treestand and the bears come in...not exactly what you are hoping for

After a morning full of serious hunting, it wasn't 'till after an afternoon of cooking on the grill,
a few refreshments, and BS'n with Rebelfisher...that the deer herd that avoided us most of the rifle season decided
to appear on the last day in the afternoon...Right below the horse shed where we grilled!...In which we shot 2 of them...Really, this is no joke.
Sometimes you just have to have some luck on your side.

Even though, I do love hunting very much too...
I will add to..."Why icefishing is better than hunting."

How bout...

You can put a waxworm on a hook with ease, and the panfish usually cooporate with you when you go icefishin'...
But, when you put corn on a hook to go "deerfishin!"....is all you get is those darn "stockie trouts!"

make a bad shot on a deer and you need to track him sometimes for miles, don't hook the fish that set your flag off, not reallly a big deal just keep on fishin.

you can use a spotlight to catch crappies:) You cant use a spotlight to shoot deer
