Last year ice gill mount
« on: Oct 05, 2012, 09:55 AM »
Picked up my gill from the taxidermist the other day.  Color looks great and size is still pretty close. He even got my homemade jig put in there!

Nice looking mount! How big was the gill?
I envy not him that eats better meat than I do; nor him that is richer, or that wears better clothes than I do; I envy him, and him only, that catches more fish than I do. – Izaak Walton

Taxidermist said the ice was a 2-part plastic that he heated up to form. The fish was caught in KZoo Co. last Feb.

That's a great mount.  I never thought of having a fish mounted like it was swimming being caught ice fishing but I sure will be in the near future.

This particular mount was $230... something like $150 for the fish and $80 for the extras.  If anyone wants a good all-around taxidermist between KZoo and GR, John Overbeek is worth the call!
