Practice day for the 2007 Tourney
« on: Dec 29, 2006, 08:43 PM »
Countyiceman and I went fishing for 2-hours at a little honey-hole we like to call "Secret Pond #4".  The flags flew early and often with good sized pickerel.  We brought home 9 fish weighing a total of 13.75-lbs.  The larges, caught by Countyiceman, tipped the scale at 2-3/8lbs. and 22-3/4" long.  We got awesome video of this "peavey handle" coming through the ice.  We'll post that soon.

We thought ahead and made a flag to... well... umm... show off a bit.

The load out with fish tossed in like cord wood.  We had a terrific day and thought of all you good fellows the whole time we were out.

Nice start to the season guys!  Pickerel get the bum "trash fish" label, but they are fun to catch!

Yesterday, we returned to the pond and brought home another 8 fish.  My daughter and son were responsible for hoisting in our fish.  And, Countyiceman's long-time friend that joined us got top prize by hoisting in a 25", 3-1/2lb peavey handle which should be responsible for another great fish chowdah'.  All-in-all, it was a good day and not nearly as windy as it was the day before.

Mrs. Icefish4 and I along with our two cherubs returned to Secret Pond #4 for another day of fishing.  We only had a couple hours of daylight for fishing.  In all the flags flew about a dozen times with a nice 23", 2-3/8-lb Pickerel being the largest.  The others were released back to their mothers.
The kids were whiney, but when we got back to the truck the youngest (almost 5 years old) commented: "...this was a great day, Papa!".  I guess that's payment enough, huh?
Tomorrow, I'm going solo to Secret Pond #1 and possibly Secret Pond #2 to chase the brookies and splake.
Have a joyous new year.  God Bless!
