Article says "tip up record"? I'm confused too.

Is there a seperate record for ice fishing? If so I've got her beat. I caught one that was 2lbs. 13 oz. ice fishing back in February of 2005.

    It seems to be an 'industry' standard.

    Get close with a wide-angle lens, small f-stop for good depth of field, focus at infinity, maybe a little Photoshop. Bada bing

Was not allowed to be a state record with the reason given the fish was on a "feeding program" in my private pond. Never mind Indiana has 12 state records from private ponds and feeding fish in ponds is very common.
I also had a fish hauler's and suppliers license at the time because a biologist told me I had to have one to pick up trout that I planted into the pond in the fall. That made me on paper a fish farmer. An outdoor columnist also made it a controversy to make a good story.

I now hatch and produce my own fish I grow out and sell to other taxidermists, so I am now a bonafide fish farmer and wouldn't even consider entering a fish like that at this point. At the time i had one pond and was just like any other pond owner.

The fish was an anomaly like any other record, as I've never been able to grow one that big since. Any biologist that thinks one can grow a record fish simply by feeding it needs to go back to school.

That said it was a personal achievement and that is all that counts to me.

I caught her on ice fishing in February. If I would have caught her a few weeks later when her eggs were more fully developed she would have easily gone 3 lbs.

Kudos to the 12 year old and I think it's awesome and more power to her. Just had never heard of a tip up world record or even an icefishing world record.
