Hi folks,

New guy to this forum. I found it wandering around the web looking for some ice fishing info.

I suspect I will learn much more than contribute here, but I am not new to ice fishing.

I grew up fishing on the lakes in Northwestern Wisconsin, but work has taken me a little ways from there and significantly cut my ice time down.

I am looking to get back into more ice time.

Hi cowpoke-- This is my second season on this site. With what I learned about jigging and different setups my fish on the ice to time on ice % has gone up by a huge percentage. I now throw back more than I keep as to previously coming home with no smell on my hands. Welcome to the club.

You sure are getting a lot of attention! What kind of name is Cowpoke anyway? Sweedish?

Welcome aboard. I monitor a couple sites, & this one has the most posts of any I'm aware of, and is loaded with people ready to make sugestions. I expect you'll pickup a lot just monitoring posts, but recommend you jump in & get involved in the discussions. Everyone here's friendly. I learn the most when I ask questions which many people probably consider pretty ignorant, but am amazed at the helpful feedback I get.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I'm glad to see all the friendly folks here.

I use this same forum name (cowpoke) at the few other boards I look/ post at, mostly other hnting and fishing related ones. There is no cool story to go with it, just kind of picked it out the blue and it seems to work good enough.

Put a seatbelt on your computer chair 'Poke. The laughs don't seem to let up. A great bunch of guys with interest in the great sport of ice fishing. I grew up in Stevens Point, went to college in Eau Claire, and worked in Juneau (Dodge County) for 5 years. I'm in Alaska now because the ice season is longer.
