Weathersfield cove - still closed

Stopped by after work and the parking lot is still off limits.

its not safe,more than likely will not be this yr,to much water flow

That's a shame. It's so far from me that I only went when we had shanty get togethers there, but it has such variety.

The cove will be fished again this year I bet by feb 20th it will have close to 10in of ice the housy tidal coves still had 8-10in all last week and the water moves alot more there then way up the ctr

I keep perch and crappie all the time out of there in the winter. Never had any issues
The BIG one is just one flag away!

Species caught : largemouth, smallmouth,  bluegill, perch, White perch, crappie, trout, catfish, bowfin, pickerel, pike

I would hope for those of you who fish it it does become safe,with the rain coming and not so cold temps this next week.you will need a good 7days below freezing, good luck

I think the ice is fishable now the water came up with the rain a couple weeks ago and when it froze it left a sheet of ice on the parking lot. This weekend may clear it out again. hopefully

I eat fish from the river all the time and I've never had an issue either.

I saw guys on it yesterday afternoon as I drove by on 91.

By no means am I saying it's safe (since we all have our own idea of what safe is) but they were jigging near the channel. Could have been a couple of crazies on an inch for all I know but I would assume if we get some cooperative temps it may be fishable for most again. Hopefully soon!
