Maybe one more weekend but that's pushing the limits.  Time will tell.  I've seen half that ice disappear in a day.  Saturdays water temp 1ft down was 42!

Lost 5 inches easy from Sunday to today, many soft spots out there....still a lot of machine traffic as of today surprisingly

Ouch that's rough.  I can't imagine how your old lady reacted!!! Maybe that caused the machine traffic?

Wouldn't catch me out there, I took a bath in 88 and 2002 trying to 'get that last trip'.  Never again, made peace with my last outing last weekend.  Be careful men, stay on top.
I'd rather be fishing...

Last weekend my Nils auger went through ice like it was not there.  Instead of ice shavings it came out in chunks.  Adios!  Get the boat out.

Walked off MDB today and was surprised at the quality of the ice. Spent most of my time south east of Tea Island in 70ft and had 13in of good ice. Just the top couple inches grainy (not candled) and the rest pretty hard. Got four lakers and had a few stubborn ones that would not commit. Also caught a bunch of perch in 20ft south west of Tea. The only danger area I came across was west of the beach/ramp going toward the big boats where they plowed the ice for winter carnival. Three whacks with the spud and I was thru. Everywhere else was solid.

Re: Saratoga ice out.  Yeah I was amazed this morning, no ice from the south end up to maple shade.  I figured the ice blew off and piled up somewhere, and drove up towards Fitch road thinking that's where it went.  THe north end still had floating ice, but I never found piles on the shore.  BTW, a number of guys I know swear that the ice sinks when it goes out (???)

I have actually been out fishing in a boat at ice out on saratoga lake and the ice can sink. It depends on the conditions. The ice can absorb enough water and then sink below the surface then melts... but I have also seen the ice stay at the surface and just melt from the edges in.

I fished PK last Wednesday and Thursday. 10-11 inches on wed, the next day 7-8 inches.. ice was honey combed, starting to candlestick when drilling holes... wouldn't be surprised if it's almost gone now. Lakers were on though! Til' next year!

Hunting trouts.

That was a great way to end the season dude. Smashing 2 and 3 pound smallies and seeds galore. It was a great season buddy.

Hey guys,  Roger Houck out of Brant Lake just put this up on his YouTube Channel.  He was recently a speaker again at the Adirondack Sportsman's Dinner at Mountainside Christian Academy in Schroon Lake.

He presented on Jigging Perch which he has spent the last 25 years obsessing about.  He gets into the science and theories behind why they bite and why they won't and has presented this many time at other sportsman shows as well as some great stories and other tips and tricks.

Really is a nice presentation.  Check it out!  We can always learn more right?

I’m almost sure the main lake is wide open in the south basin
Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange,
Maybe off on some high cold mountain chain.

The diamond point cam is pretty cool- in yesterdays (4/9) time lapse video you can watch the ice melt and break apart throughout the day. Today its open water.

Steel pier looks like all the ice blew to the south end of the lake. Im hoping Thursday and Friday melt it off, would like to do some trolling Saturday
