Our 2005 Derby was a huge success. This year we had approximately 50 entrants which roughly doubles last years attendance  ;D. I had a great time and was happy to meet all new attendees as well as reaquaint myself with the past attendees. I was very pleased to see the large turnout of children. As Reb would say they are the future of fishing.
I just wanted to remind everyone none of this could have been possible without our sponsors ... thank you. They are reposted above. If you have the opportunity to patronize our sponsors please let them know you are from IceShanty and appreciate their sponsorship.
I also wanted to thank Reb, Webguy and JigAwhopper for their help and prize donations for this derby ... thanks guys  ;) .
I also wanted to thank Scott for allowing us to have the derby ... thanks Scott  ;).

Mark it's getting to be too much between running the Online Tourney and our Derby. Now that the derby is up and running I have no doubt in my mind that "Butch and Sundance" can handle it.  ;)
I just can't figure out who's Butch and who's Sundance  :P :-* ;D.

I have recieved a few complaints about the rules, location, etc. and it is expected. We can't possibly keep everyone happy. One member (joined less than 2 weeks ago) and without contacting us went over my head, Rebs and JigAwhoppers to Scott about our derby. As I explained to this member in my response Scott had nothing to do with the location, rules or prizes for our derby ... it was put together by us ( myself, Reb and JAw ). Scott was nice enough to let us have one and I'm sure expected no ramifications from it.

I "will be" running next years but we are considering many changes.

It may not be our Annual Derby anymore but may be our Get Together.
We may have no prizes or giveaways ..... bragging rights only.
Next season we will choose another lake to have it on and it will rotate each year.

We'll see what next season brings

Doug.. I think 99.9% of the folks who participated thought it was a fun time... the only minor complaint I had was that I  thought the $250 entry fee that JigAwhopper collected from me on the side was a little steep but since no one else seemd to be complaining, I didn't say anything.... :o ;D

Seriously, don't let one person put a dark cloud over it.... given it was a free informal little contest/get-together, it's bewildering that there would be any complaints....   ::)

I'll be glad to volunteer to help out for next year's event as it rolls around...   :)

no need to be bitter Mike,  that allegedly donated $250 went to a great cause,  I think it was called 'JigAwhopper's general beer and smokes fund', but i don't know nothing,,,and remember even less, 'casue i got a hangover   :P ;D,  just kidding,,,ha,,ha,,!!

This year was my first derby, and I had a blast. If one guy was unhappy, then let him stay home next year. I'm looking forward to next year already, regardless of the venue, rules, or prizes. Anyone who complains about a free tourney, with prizes, has too much time on his hands. Thanks to everyone who set up the tourney.

I agree with CoryD.  Although I couldn't make it this year, the tournament last year was alot of fun. LH is a good choice and the rules, prizes and no entry fee gave everyone (even the novice like me) a chance to participate.

Thanks to all who put the time in to set it up.  I hope my schedule lets me go next year!!!

I'm not really shocked someone complained because there always has to be one person that has to ruin our great memories of a fun day of fishing.  It was my first ice outing with my brother in nearly 20 years and my son's first ice fishing adventure which now he's hooked. Can I tell you me and my son had a blast and we only caught 1 Perch each (thank god for our Sit-N-Spin Bait Buckets).  ;D I don't think we should change anything, especially to appease some JA. >:(

I say we make it for people who actively post on the site and not just join up to go fish this tournament.  There are people who see we are having an event and then sign up so they can come fish it.

It's still early but I'll be working on putting something together for this season. JigaWhopper won't be able to assist this season ... he's in Arizona. I bet there's great Ice Fishing there JaW !  :P
Most likely Reb and myself will be working on it.

Depending on what part of AZ he's in he may be able to ice fish some of the lakes in the mountains for lakers.

I'm looking forward to another tourney but will most likely be living in PA by the time it'd come around. As long as I could get the time off I'll be there though.
