According to the guys on MFF there are crappie in Netley Creek, though you can't take my word on it as I have never fished for them there myself.

i have caught a few on the La Salle river as well so they very well could be in small rivers and creeks that feed into the Red.

Like I said, don't take my word on it. For those who have an account though this is the thread: http://manitobafishingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6890&view=unread#unread

mary jane resevoir, caddy lake, north and south cross... there are plenty more but your best chance would be minnewasta, caddy has lots but rarely gets ice fished for them it has plenty of other species as minnewasta is mainly just crappie

and was it this year someone claimed catching one in netley? one of my dads friends claimed to have caught a small one in a minnow trap further up cooks creek but same deal no proof, i'll believe it when i see one

I gaurantee they will be in netley seen a couple caught on the red this fall was very shocked at first! Will you catch them on command? Maybe if you find where they are schooled up. But they are 100% in that system of water.

Yeah my mother caught one near cook's creek a number of years ago, started to think I imagined it and maybe it was a rock bass until this year when I saw another caught in that same general area.

there were pictures on the shore fishing posts of someone that caught on from the cement dock in selkirk this fall so believe it lol Im pretty sure i had on that came off right at the hole when fishing netley this weekend it sure looked like one but i won't say I'm 100% sure. They are 100% in there though check the master angler records if you don't believe me there are quite a few that come out of netley creek

If you want proof of crappie in the Red River check out the article "First Red River Greenbacks" in the Nov. issue of Manitoba Outdoors. There is a pic i took of a 13.5" crappie landed by a buddy of mine near the miracle mile in October. They are out there just not in big numbers.

i first heard reports of crappies being caught in netly quite a few years ago, first i thought it was bs,or maybe that they were also catching rock bass...but one spring i went in to the muckles arm of the creek and we caught just about every species that we have in manitoba, including 2 crappie, and one bigmouth buffalo.(and trust me i can tell the difference between a crappie and a rock bass).

Black crappie don't hide in the winter like cats and bullheads they'll be somewhere out there.

the thing is i can,t see them staying in the creek throughout the winter, i would think maybe they move out into the delta and all through all the flats and such before the lake

Brereton lake in the Whiteshell PP.  Caught a MA this summer first timeout.  I can post a map or coordinates.  I am trying to figure out how to post a pic

I've done well in North Cross in the summer, caught lots of MA crappies.  Never been out there in hard water though.

Fished Star Lake some years back and caught a few, but lately ain't too much there in the way of Crappie. I'd try Minnewatsa near Morden. Went there in the summer and slayed like 50 in a day ;D . Biggest was 13", I'd took a couple eaters home, but IMO they don't taste the best out of that silty water, kinda bland. :-\

There are a lot of white bass in the red and netley, these are often thought to be crappie.
Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.
