Think it just the Mako's & Sharks that have the temperamental starting & not the Z line. I have the Z71 & it starts 1st pull, 2nd at the most.
By the way, it's prime with the choke DOWN. They don't prime properly with the choke in the up position, that's why a lot of people were having problems starting them.....choke in the wrong position while priming.
I have a Z71 also and had difficulties starting it and until I figured this out. If the choke is closed when you prime it no fuel can get into the carb. It starts great now!
The worse day fishing is still better than the best day working!

I have the Z51 for the past year and I have NEVER had a problem starting it till last Saturday when I took it out of the box of the truck. I figure it was way cold but I did get it started within a minute or two. I tried after a few hours with it outside and it started no problem.....very good machine!

I've had my Eskimo mako 43cc for five years now and has worked amazing but I recently ran into the same problem you jus had with the spark plug spitting gas I wonder if a new plug would fix the problem because I know that they also come with Chinese plugs as well I have a Ngk in mine worked fine til now ..?

Spark plug was toast put in a new one this afternoon works like a champ still with no leaks anymore eskimo augers are very good I think as long as the operator knows how to use the machine properly.
