i have a old zercom clear water classic been using it and read my jig real good but still learning how to read it any help would be appreciated

Old goat knows alot about the old flashers.

Theres nothing else to it. You'll see your jig and you will see fish. Its a grayscale unit so the darker the line the bigger or closer to right below your transducer the fish is.

I still use my Clearwater classic.
It is all about the sensitivity knob on the bottom. Pull it out and the flasher lights up (if you did not know that)
You just need to play with the sensitivity knob until you can see you jig and then you are set.

I use one still. A guy had some recondition ones on eBay for $50 each. Don't need one with all the bells and whistles. It shows my lures and fish that's all I need. Just crank up the gain. I watch the screen and when a fish comes near I pay more attention to my rod tip.

I have an old Hummingbird Super 60, the biggest difference I see is about a 12" target separation instead of a 1-2" on the newer Marcum I have.
