Any one use Guide Gear Ice Parka and Bibs
« on: Oct 31, 2010, 06:45 PM »
Does anyone have and use this Ice fishing suit? I ordered one, and they seem to have good reviews, but for the money it doesn't seem I could go wrong.

There was a thread on this a while back.  From what I read the reviews were positive.  I was going to order a set for my Son but they were sold out.  I'll have to jump on it right away this year.  Thanks for posting.

I can't believe the price on these things from Bargain Outfitters, even if they aren't that great you can't go wrong for the money.

I ordered my on Sat morning, the price was listed at 59.99 for each piece, put them both in the basket and went to check out and they rang up at 44.99 a piece. They give you a 29.99 discount if you order both pieces together. All said and done with shipping 104.95, not a bad deal if you ask me. They are due to arrive on Thursday, I can't wait :icefish:

Mine rang up $38.98 each, but I have a club membership. How can you go wrong for $77.97 for an ice suit, These will be sold out in minutes.

Well, my parka and bibs arrived yesterday and I must say I'm impressed so far. To be quite honest I was expecting a little less in the quality dept, but much to my surprise they seem as good as the suits costing three times as much. I've had the opportunity to try on a few of the more expensive ones, and from a laymans perspective they seem very evenly matched, ( knee padding, weight, material, and sizing) I would be in a better place to judge the quality of the set after a season or two on the ice.  If they preform as well as they look, I think I will have made a good investment.
I will keep you guys up to date as the ice season progresses.

I ordered a set for my Son.  They arrived today so I just had my first chance to examine them.  I'm impressed so far.  I have a set of Vexilar Cold Snap gear for myself and the Guide Gear doesn't seem much different.  As Duckbuster stated I wasn't expecting them to be as nice as they are.  They appear waterproof, warm, well stitched, reflective trim, LOTS of pockets both inside & outside the garment, padded knees, flexible wire sewn in the hood, warm lining, velcro closure on arms & legs, generous cut, etc.   Even if they don't last as long as the more expensive garments I think at 1/3 the cost you'll still be ahead of the game.
If you're thinking of buying them jump now while you still can.  At $100 bucks for the whole outfit they're a bargain.

i have a question. do you guys fish without a shanty? i use regular walls coverall in frabill shelter with a heater running. the price is tempting since i am a club member. will i  be too hot if i wear them in my shanty? should i just stay with my walls coveralls?

Thinking about ordering this set. For those of you that have did they seem to run large or small? I am 5'10" and 205. I am thinking the extra large but wanted to see how these fit for you guys before i order.

I ordered a set two weeks ago, I'm 5'10" 185 and large fits very nice with room for layers if needed. Impressed with the quality and the price. Can't wait to try em out.
