One last Hoorah!

Heading to camp Thursday. Unfortunately only the second time I have been able to get up there this winter. After this storm they are going to have a ton of snow, there is already a bunch. I am guessing it could be possible that the auger extension will be necessary. Been a few years since I have had to use that. Definitely looking forward to getting up there. Catching fish is just the bonus.

Yes you will need the extension for your auger, especially with the foot of snow we'll be getting.

Yeah planks will not be necessary that's for sure. The past few years we have been snowmobiling up there the 1st of April and the worst I can remember was having to cross the lake with about 2 feet of water on the ice, but the edges and ice thickness have not been an issue. Granted things can change quickly and differ year to year but by all the reports I am getting it certainly won't be an issue and its supposed to stay relatively cold for the next 7-10 days. Should be a great weekend.

I had to push a trip to moosehead a week later because of the storm. it's not fun fishing with 2ft+ of snow on the lake . im liking the forecast for after the storm singles and low teens should keep the edges in perfect condition till I get up on the 22nd

I haven't needed an auger extension (I don't even have one), but it's close. Lots of snow, although this current storm seems to be falling short of the predictions (no complaint there). Travelling on the lakes has been excellent.
Good Luck!

Had a good trip. Very nice ride into camp. The lake was great to travel on. All kinds of snow and ice. Between 3 of us fishing on and off for two days with no one really having 5 traps in at any time, we were able to catch over 20 salmon, 2 brookies, and a mess of YP. Had 4 or 5 salmon between 16-18 inches the rest were smaller than that. I did blow up my sled on the way to long to go see the ice carousel. Never did make it over there. I know I am tired of dealing with sleds and trailers. If I did enjoy camp and ice fishing so much I definitely wouldn't own one. All in all a good weekend at camp!

Wind was brutal. Friday the temp was about 30 degrees but the wind made it about zero. Saturday was just as bad which is why we fished until about 1130 and then went over to Lakeview for lunch. Riding across the lake into that wind was brutal. There was a couple people fishing off Limestone point on Saturday and I give them a lot of credit because they hung in their for most of the day and it was nasty out.

I have to agree with you about sleds and trailers. Unfortunately, they are a necessary evil. Glad you had a good trip despite the wind and mechanical problem.
My son helped out with the ice carousel Saturday morning. He said the weather conditions were definitely rugged, and the only way to stay warm was to drill holes through the 32" of ice.

Good report, great numbers for 2 days and the conditions. Sounds like you had one of those "It's never easy" trips...
