Post by: freeman77 on Nov 18, 2009, 03:45 PM
which lake in ny would have the first ice good enough to fish on for some panfish. I know there is no exact lake every year but maybe one people start fishing first usually?

Seems like Loon Lake down near Wayland has safe ice before anywhere else.

I've got a nice little 100 acre pond close that always has ice 2-3 weeks before anywhere else around.  Not the best fishing, but its better than wishing.  Hopefully in a couple weeks we'll be in business.

Yeah, one was almost froze over the whole way, but im not sure if ice fishing ice allowed on it or if it even holds fish for that matter.
