Anyone watching the 10 or 15 day forecast for Northern Indiana? I don't see real cold in the next 15 days. How do you think the ice will hold?

just ignore the forecast, if you don't pay attention to it, it may not happen.

With the night time temps, the ice will be fine.

Keeping my fingers and toes crossed it doesn't get too warm. I'm just gonna tell myself we'll be fine. ;D

With the forecast rains, I'd be more concerned with the edges and the skimmed over or open water.

With the exception of Thursday it looks like we are going to finally enjoy some nice fishing weather. Ice isn't going away with this little bit of rain and short warmup.

Wndu's 16 day is all 40s and rain, one day near 50. I'll be getting the boat out!

:( :( just bought a shanty yesterday.. sigh. my luck

1 inch of water on top of 5 inches of ice down here. The wind is blowing 25 miles an hour with gusts well into the 30's. By 4 pm they are expecting high 40 mph gusts.
Going to have to anchor the shanty tonight for what will more than likely be my last outing for a while.
Did manage a 13 inch crappie last night but the eye's are off doing whatever they do when I'm not catching them! :wacko:

With 10" of ice on some of these northern lakes a couple days in the high forties and a little rain is not going to be the end or even close.

Anywhere little rain..ha. just drove by a pond that looked completely open due to a lake on top of the ice. Looks creepy but is prob fine. Might want some good creepers

I was on loomis and the Slough today. loomis had lots of water but drilled fine. Slough had a LOT of water on top and unbelievable wind. shanty was pushing a serious wake on the way in. it was not drilling good, ice was coming up in small chunks not shavings. I'm done for a while. I did take a sweet ride on the shanty that I have on video. I could have easily rode to the opposite bank.

forecast keeps trending warmer...now most of next week is mid 40's and above freezing at night. Hopefully it holds for the back half of January, the extended looks good.

Very true man. About killed me. We need some snow.
I hate sitting on a bucket and fish on my knees most of time. By the end of the day before the rain hit there was still over 8 inches of ice but a good amount of standing water on top and of course idiot me was still sitting on his knees.

Is there something that im missing in the forecast or is my sources of weather informationjst lying to me some how? I see some nicely cold temps at night. And.... did everyone not realize how nicely the ice made it through the last thaw we just had a week ago? I mean come on guys, sure some boys down state a ways might be getting ice cheweed away, but a few of them travel north no problem. Guys. Its early janruary, chill out. Find the ice that is good, and have fun. I had a guy on another site saying a lake was toast just by driving by it. Well i was on that lake and i seen some of the best ice yet! Even in years. Ya know, just a few years back we were reaching 20 inches ice, and look how fast that ice went. Yes it can go quick but seriously. It aint over and the fat lady isnt singing. Come on loosen your drag a little would ya! Lol.
Tight lines to ya ladies and gents still getting out. Im goose hunting tomorrow so maybe friday i can fish again.

Ouch I don't know about nighttime temps but.... The boat will be a reality. Hopefully feb. is better.

We just had a real down pour for about 20 mins and is still raining steady. Ice will have to pretty much start over in my neck of the woods. The boat is a real option now.

The forecast I am looking at for next week shows 4 out of 7 days above 50 with rain and wind. The reality is that it's probably going to be over for a little while after this weekend. Some channels may still be fishable.

Nothing wrong with taking an ice break and getting the boat wet a couple of days before it freezes back up.

Well the warmup isn't far away now :'( The ice is definitely going to take a beating. Not looking forward to it at all. We may have got early ice but it's way too soon to be done!
