Perch
« on: Feb 13, 2007, 08:23 AM »
Just curious if anyone is catching any perch bigger than 10" anywhere near the metro, or even within an hour of the metro.  I have caught about 80 perch this season, and the biggest was about 9".  These dinks are killing me!!  Any info would be great

Do they even exist in the metro? I think that your 9 incher is some sorta record around here!

I think I may have set an all time record, and caught a dink that measured literally an inch and a half...I put him in my bait bucket, and one of my large shiners ate him...

Get on 169 and GET OUT OF THE METRO! Where are you? Around New Hope? If you are, truck up to Mille Lacs. Its really not that far. The good fishing will start in  a couple of weeks if this cold ever gives up. ::) Once the game fish seasons close and all of the hardsides are off the lake things are very different up here.

I second that.  i'm a little partial to winni, i grew up on the lake.  i think i remember mud87 getting some nice perch outta prior last year, but i don't think they were much bigger than 10".  i did get one bigger perch, i'd guess him at about 11", on steiger lake, but all the rest were dinks

Hey HardIce...let me know when you are up there...would sure love to catch some big ones too.  I went out of Rocky Reef on Monday this week, and caught quite a few perch, but nothing huge.  Just a 10 1/2" fat boy...got him on a tip up, but yeah I am always up for a drive up there.

Was thinking of heading back up there this Monday or Tuesday coming up...hope I can reap some of the benefits of driving from here...and PS, thanks Skipper for recommending Rocky Reef...they hooked me up with the TNT bait shop and the little special that goes along with going out at rocky's.  Really good bait shop
