Mako Prime ?
« on: Jan 09, 2013, 08:19 AM »
So I just got a brand new Eskimo Mako from my wife, for my birthday.  I started it up last night to run it through the "break in" procedure.  Accord to what I found on here, this involved starting it 4 different times.  I had a fare amount of difficulty starting the auger last night.  I am wondering if I did not press the prime ball enough.  I am always worried about flooding small engines so I limit the amount of times I press the prime ball.  Last night I was pressing it twice to start and then once more if it would not start after 5-6 pulls.  It was warmer last night low 30’s and the power head had been in the house before I started with the process.  I would say on average it took 8-10 pulls to get her to pop off.

Any advice would be appreciated

same thing here on my new mako. It seems finicky on how many times you need to prime. i flooded mine.. i found that as soon as the bulb is filled with gas, stop and pull the cord.
